This recipe for Paleo Chicken Nuggets is one that I’m always making on repeat! I just added an option to bake them. Keep scrolling for the full recipe.
According to the meme world, girls go absolutely insane for chicken nuggets. It’s almost as if we’re all the same, hungry/extra/needy creatures….
I am here to tell you that that is in fact the truth.
I actually can’t believe how delicious these Paleo Chicken Nuggets turned out! They’re grain-free, gluten-free, Whole30 approved and Keto-friendly. And, dare I say they taste ridiculously close everyone’s favorite Chick-Fil-A nuggets.
Here’s how to make them.
PrintPaleo Chicken Nuggets
Delicious and easy copycat Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets that are grain-free, gluten-free, Paleo & Keto-friendly.
- Prep Time: 20
- Cook Time: 20
- Total Time: 40 minutes
- Yield: 8 servings 1x
- Category: Lunch, Dinner
- Method: Stovetop or Bake
- Cuisine: American
- Diet: Gluten Free
Ingredients
- 2 lbs organic chicken breast
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 3/4 cup coconut flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1–2 teaspoons nutritional yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup (or more, as needed) ghee or oil
Instructions
- Rinse and pat dry the chicken. Cut into 2 inch pieces
- Beat the eggs in a shallow bowl and set aside
- In another large shallow bowl, combine the coconut flour and seasonings
- Dip the chicken pieces first in the egg, then into the breading mixture and coat well
To cook stovetop:
- Heat a large pan to medium heat and add ghee or oil
- Cook the chicken nuggets 3-4 minutes per side until they’re golden brown. Add more ghee/coconut oil as needed – you want the nuggets to get crispy on the outside
To bake:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees
- Spread nuggets evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet and drizzle or spray with olive oil
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping midway
Keywords: Chick-fil-A, chicken, chicken nuggets, keto, paleo, grain-free, gluten-free, whole30
Cooking options:
- Cooking stovetop requires more cooking fat, but it will lend to a crispier texture
- Baking the nuggets will cut back on the added fat and is easier for cleanup. I wouldn’t skip the drizzle of oil, as coconut flour can tend to be try and it needs at least some fat to crisp
- I have tried air-frying these nuggets but didn’t love the result, as they came out too try
Ingredient notes:
- I have not tried this recipe with any other flours, but I believe almond flour (or a combo of coconut flour + almond flour) would work as well
- You can omit the nutritional yeast, but I find it adds a delicious and unique, almost cheesy flavor to the nuggets
- My favorite chicken to use is from ButcherBox – it’s a customizable meat subscription service that delivers right to your doorstep with free shipping! Their chicken is Free-range, USDA Certified Organic Chicken
To make these into a copycat Chick-fil-A meal:
- Bake or air fry your favorite waffle fries. I love the ones from Alexia
- You can’t forget the Chick-fil-A sauce! I haven’t tried making my own, but here is a recipe for it. I actually used Sir Kensington’s Special Sauce, and it’s a pretty good copycat option!
This recipe for Paleo Chicken Nuggets makes a pretty big batch, so I store about half in the freezer. They’re perfect to pull out when you need a protein topper for something like a healthy lunch Power Bowl.
