I just wanted to thank you for this. My family does an annual “Cookie Baking Day” where everyone brings a recipe and makes some kind of cookie (or bar), and then we divide the spoils at the end. My cousin made this recipe, and I really wasn’t expecting just how this would hit me.
As a kid, Hershey Cookies ‘n’ Creme was my favorite chocolate/candy by far. It was just so delicious and amazing to me. But after being diagnosed with Celiac’s disease about 10 years ago, I have not been able to have them, and I always feel so sad when I see them at the store knowing I can’t have them. I’ve had some melted white chocolate with crushed up fake Oreos since then, and they were great, but it didn’t recapture the magic.
When I took a bite into this fudge for the first time, it was such a wave of nostalgia that I couldn’t keep myself from crying. It is a challenge for me to eat this fudge without tearing up as it so perfectly encapsulates how my mind remembers that, now forbidden, chocolate tasting. This fudge truly means so much to me.
Plus, it’s suuuper easy to make! But seriously. Thank you.
