We’ve all got them – those family favorite recipes that you just have to make at least once a year. This Cinnamon Brown Sugar Apple Crisp is that recipe for for the HB fam during the fall season & leading up to Thanksgiving. It’s the perfect delicious and comforting dessert, which also happens to be quite easy to make.
My personal tweak to the recipe was doubling the amount of topping so there’s even more buttery, lightly crunchy crisp to pair with the soft apples, and of course melty ice cream on top.

What type of apples should I use?
I like using granny smith apples because they hold up well when baked instead of getting too mushy.
How do I cut the apples?
This apple peeler tool is such a game changer – it makes coring, peeling and getting paper thin slices of apples so easy. You can also simply slice or dice the apples and leave the skin on if you’d like.
Can I use a different type of flour?
I’ve made this recipe using all-purpose flour, almond flour and oat flour. They all worked great! I do not recommend using coconut flour.
How should I store this apple crisp?
Store at room temperature for about 3 days, or in the refrigerator for longer.
One of the best things about this recipe is that you don’t have to (and shouldn’t) wait for it to cool before digging in 😉 Don’t forget the vanilla ice cream!
