Ingredients and Substitutions for Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Rice Krispies Treats
What protein powder should I use?
I used Iconic vanilla whey protein powder. I love this protein powder because it has a mild flavor and light texture that blends/combines well into recipes. It’s also grass-fed and lactose-free! You can use code hungryblonde for a discount.
You can use a chocolate flavored protein powder for even more chocolate flavor, or even a peanut butter flavored one!
I have not tried this recipe with any other protein powders, but a whey-based protein powder would probably work best in terms of texture and flavor (compared to a plant-based one).
What cereal should I use?
I used this organic cocoa crispy rice cereal, but you could also use Cocoa Pebbles or Cocoa Krispies. If you don’t want the chocolate flavor, regular Rice Krispies or organic brown rice crisps cereal will work too.
Is there a substitution for butter?
Instead of regular butter you could use a dairy-free/vegan butter. Also, refined coconut oil should work just fine in this recipe in place of butter.
Can I use a different nut butter?
Yes, any nut butter will work great in this recipe!
