Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip is the ultimate crowd-pleasing recipe that everyone can feel good about enjoying. It’s made with yogurt and whipped cream cheese for a lightened up taste (that doesn’t skimp on the flavor!). Keep scrolling for the recipe.
In my opinion, Buffalo Chicken Dip is the ultimate appetizer. Cheese? Check. Spice? Check. Protein? Check. Plus, there are so many options for what you can dip in it — chips, veggies, a spoon (I won’t tell!). That’s why a few years back I decided to make my very own recipe for an extra cheesy Buffalo Chicken Dip. Since then, the recipe has gone viral (and for good reason!). However, here at Hungry Blonde we love a *healthier* remake of our favorite decadent dishes. Thus, I present to you this lightened-up, skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip.
Now, I want you all to know that even though this recipe is lightened-up, it doesn’t skimp on the flavor of my OG Buffalo Chicken Dip. In fact, I think that if you tasted these two side by side, you probably wouldn’t even know the difference! This recipe is super simple to make — only six ingredients needed! And it’s definitely one you’re going to want to bring your next gathering.

How is Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip lightened up?
So, this recipe is made lighter by using whipped cream cheese, which contains half the calories of regular cream cheese. If you want to make this recipe even *lighter* then you can use low-fat, whipped cream cheese, too. In addition, this recipe uses nonfat Greek yogurt instead of more cream cheese. The nonfat Greek yogurt is low in calories/fat and good source of added protein. Plus, it ensures that this dip stays nice and creamy. If you want to lower the calorie count even more, then you can also substitute lightened up ranch sauce.
How to make the chicken:
To make the chicken, I find that poaching it results in the best/easiest texture for shredding. I follow this guide to poach/shred chicken. Another option – and one that I use quite often – is to use store-bought rotisserie chicken. This saves so much time, and no one will be able to tell the difference!
If you want to switch up the flavors…
Another way to switch up this recipe is to use bleu cheese instead of cheddar, or a mix of 1/2 bleu cheese 1/2 cheddar. This gives the dish a definite zing to it!
Is there a way to make this vegetarian?
Of course, I’m happy you asked (; I’ve made this Vegetarian Cheesy White Bean Buffalo Dip for all my vegetarians out there!
Different Ways to Serve Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip:
We love dipping vehicles, and this recipe has lots of different options. Some of my favorites are:
- Tortilla chips: The OG
- Crackers: It’s great with Ritz or Wheat Thins or any crackers you like!
- Veggies: I love it with carrots, cauliflower and celery!
- Avocado bowl: If you cut an avocado in half and stuff it with this dip, you have an easy and delicious lunch!
- In a wrap: This is another great way to make this dip into an easy lunch!
- On sliders: Grab some sliders, fill them with this dip, pop them in the oven for a minute (or serve immediately!) and you’ve got another crowd-pleasing appetizer!
Truly, this is the perfect addition to a party, especially during football season!
