It’s 2019 and we basically all live in a virtual reality. If the iPhone is our portal, our apps are like the many different worlds we can visit. Bet that’s the deepest thing you’ll hear all day, ayyyy.
As someone who works mostly in the digital world, I’m big into apps that make my life easier/organized/fun. This isn’t every single app on my phone, but they are my favorites, even though some of them might be a given *cough* Instagram *cough*.
social apps
Instagram – le duh
Marco Polo – great for video messaging, doesn’t have to be real time and the videos are saved
Venmo – I wasn’t sure where to categorize this one, but friends sending me money is one of my favorite ways to be social soo…
Snapchat – primarily to send unflattering pix of my double chin to Sydney, Emily and my sister Katie
travel/transportation apps
Hotel Tonight – I use this all the time when traveling for last minute hotel deals
Via – the most affordable/efficient ride share option
Uber – where 75% of my income goes
MYmta – so I can hop into an Uber at the slightest hint of a subway delay
Citi Bike – for distances not worth getting on the subway for, or when I don’t feel like spending $37 on a SoulCycle class
Every airline app ever – because I’d like to never have to stand in a check-in line at the airport ever again in my life
fitness apps
SoulCycle – pretty much the only fitness class I take at this point
ClassPass – I actually use ClassPass primarily for massages and blowouts. I’m serious. You can click here to get $40 off
work-y apps
Notes – ahhhh, old faithful. I’m constantly in my notes app writing reminders to myself, pre-writing Instagram captions, poems about boys and nyc…
GeniusScan – honestly I haven’t used this in ages BUT when the the time comes about once a year that I need to scan something, you can just take a pic with your phone and it coverts it into a PDF
Podio – this is the online workspace I use for my master task list, manage projects, my calendar, etc.
Quickbooks – I’m a budgeting babe, and Quickbooks tracks literally every penny that enters and leaves my bank account
photo/video apps
(details on how I edit my photos are on this post)
Snapseed
VSCO
Afterlight
Splice – how I edit my IGtvs
Google Photos – photo backup since iCloud has enough storage for like 10 pix
Layout – for photo collages
Unfold – cool IG story layouts/frames
KiraKira – for that sparkle effect every girl is obsessed with
lifestyle apps
Rent The Runway – I’ve been using RTR Unlimited for over 3 years, total game-changer
Poshmark – I don’t really use Poshmark a ton anymore, but have had a lot of luck selling on there in the past
Pinterest – to girls is what Fantasy Football is to guys. You can follow me here if you’d like
Headspace – I’ve talked about Headspace a ton, it’s an incredibly helpful meditation tool
The RealReal – I’m not quite sure I’ll buy any designer item full price again. I’ve gotten such amazing steals and it’s all vetted to ensure authenticity
Brilliant Distinctions – gain points when you get cosmetic procedures (Botox, facials, fillers, etc.) that can result in pretty substantial $$ credit
read/listen apps
Kindle – I’d really love an actual Kindle device, but for now the app will do
Spurgeon Morning & Evening devotional
Jesus Calling devotional – this is the one I share on my IG story a lot
Audible
Spotify – my playlists are my babies. Click here to follow me
Shazam – yes I know Siri can tell you songs but I like hitting the Shazam button thingie
Songkick – this is probably one of my favorite app finds EVER. It syncs with your Spotify and lists/alerts you when your favorite artists are playing
food apps
OpenTable – for reservations
Resy – also for reservations
Postmates – for food from great restaurants and when you want to pay a $30 delivery fee
Seamless – for food from not as great restaurants but way more affordable and efficient
Sweetgreen – because everyone else was paying by scanning their code so I thought I probably should too
