If your cauliflower gnocchi is turning out too gummy (ew, what a gross word) from boiling it, then you might want to give this alternative cooking method a try. It’s easy, gives you a delicious CRISPY cauliflower gnocchi, and no need to stare at a pot of water waiting for it to boil.
I’ve tried this method with the (OG) Trader Joe’s Cauliflower Gnocchi, Green Giant Cauliflower Gnocchi, Hungryroot Cauliflower Gnocchi (code HUNGRYBLONDE30), and even regular potato gnocchi. It works like a charm every time!
How to make crispy cauliflower gnocchi
- Microwave an entire bag of frozen cauliflower gnocchi for 2 minutes (or add another minute – you want it to just be thawed but not fully cooked)
- Heat a stovetop pan to medium heat, drizzle with olive oil (I’ve also used butter), add the gnocchi and season it with salt, pepper and garlic powder – or any other seasonings you like
- Cook for 6-8 minutes or until the outside becomes browned and crispy, tossing frequently to crisp up all sides
That’s it! Now, serve the gnocchi however you like – with tomato sauce, a cream sauce, pesto, vegetables, cheese, etc. So, this is one of my favorite combos: I added pan-fried chicken & spinach sausage (I get mine from HungryRoot), roasted asparagus, goat cheese and a final drizzle of olive oil.
You have to try this! It is such an easy weeknight meal to throw together in a snap. It’s also non-perishable friendly as you can easily use frozen vegetables and meat in a dish like this.
As always if you make this Crispy Cauliflower Gnocchi or any of my other recipes, be sure to tag me on Instagram @hungry.blonde so I can see how it turned out! xoxo GG
