Ok ok, I feel a little click-baity with that title, especially since *confession* this isn’t my original recipe. Oh boy, how I wish it was. But the truth is that these really are the BEST chocolate chip cookies ever. EVER EVER. I wouldn’t even attempt to change them in the slightest.
My roommate Rachel first told me about this cookie recipe a few years ago, and I was shook when I first tried them. Believe me – I’ve tried and tested many chocolate chip cookies in my day. Good old AllRecipes.com, coming in clutch. They’re soft, chewy, and everyone will love them.
Best Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts* (the original recipe calls for this, but I never add them)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
- Bake for 8-10 in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
Some notes on these cookies:
– I usually take them out closer to 8 minutes because I prefer a soft, almost gooey cookie. I’ll let them sit on the baking sheet for 1-2 minutes then transfer to a cooling rack
– I know we’re in the age of healthier substitutions, but I really wouldn’t mess with these. If you want to use almond flour or something, just find a different recipe
– this recipe makes a HUGE batch (48 cookies) so you can either half it, or they store great in the freezer
– oh, and they lend to a pretty epic ice cream sandwich situation
Happy COOKIE FRIDAY! Chat tomorrow, xoxo GG

Simple healthy recipes and real life wellness inspiration are what I was going to find here but I did not expect to find an ideal recipe of chocolate chip cookies, they look so delicious♥ I’m already on my way to the kitchen and going to cook them as soon as possible! Have you tried to add some cinnamon to the cookies? Sorry if it seems annoying, but I adore desserts and pastries with cinnamon))) Thank you for the recipe and your blog!

Hi Ann! thanks for the comment 🙂 I haven’t thought of adding cinnamon because that’s not usually typical in chocolate chip cookies, but if you try it please let me know how it turns out! xx
