If you’ve been following Hungry Blonde for a while, you’ve probably noticed that I love experimenting with different styles of eating & programs to report back and give you my honest feedback. I’m someone who believes that everyone is different – every body is different, every mind is different, and goals can vary so much from person to person. That’s why I love trying everything and providing you with my personal experiences – so you can take that information and decide whether or not it’s something you want to try for yourself!
Most recently I participated in the SlimFast® One Week Plan, and I’m here to share with you what the experience was like. I’ll be honest – I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I had never tried SlimFast®, and I’ve actually never been much of a shake or smoothie person because they never truly satisfied my hunger. But I gave the program a chance, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
Here’s a look at what my SlimFast® One Week Plan looked like.
SlimFast® One Week Plan Checklist
- Replace two meals a day with SlimFast® Smoothie
- Include one sensible 500-calorie meal per day
- Indulge in three healthy snacks to satisfy hunger
- Keep track of your goals and weekly meal plans
I really enjoyed having the short, simple guidance of this checklist. Replacing 2 meals a day with the SlimFast® Smoothies proved to be extremely convenient, as I didn’t find myself having to think about cooking. SlimFast® Advanced Nutrition smoothies are packed with 20g of high-quality protein, 5g of fiber, 24 vitamins & minerals, and all with less than one gram of sugar. They left me feeling full for hours, and the best part is that the shakes are quite delicious!
Healthy Menu Inspiration
I had so much fun browsing through Martha Stewart’s Vegetables book for healthy menu inspiration to go along with my SlimFast® One Week Plan – there are so many delicious recipes to choose from. One of my favorite meals was definitely this Kale & Butternut Squash Hash. Not only is it full of vegetables and protein, but it was so tasty and super easy to make!
Another meal I loved was Spicy Chicken & Sweet Potato Tacos. I took 2 grain-free tortillas and topped them with grilled chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, sliced avocado and a drizzle of Sriracha.
Lastly, I made sure to always have a lot of vegetables on hand for when I needed to just “throw together” a healthy meal. You can never go wrong with roasted vegetables + some form of protein!
My Go-To Snack
I didn’t find myself needing to snack all that much because the SlimFast® Smoothies were so filling. But when I did need something to hold me over, I went for 1 slice of gluten-free toast topped with sliced avocado. The healthy fats from the avocado helped curb my hunger until dinnertime.
Other Healthy Habits
During my SlimFast® One Week Plan, I also implemented other healthy habits that really help me stay on track:
- morning meditation time
- exercise at least 3x a week
- walk instead of taking subway when possible
- disconnecting from technology at least 2 hours before going to bed
As I mentioned before, I was definitely excited to learn how much I enjoyed and benefited from the SlimFast® One Week Plan. I previously didn’t think I liked shakes/smoothies because the ones I had tried in the past never satisfied my hunger, but the SlimFast® Smoothies totally did! It was actually very refreshing to not have to think about what I was going to cook/eat for breakfast or lunch, which freed me up to focus more on my work and other things.
The SlimFast® One Week Plan as a whole left me feeling great. It was a much-needed “reset” that didn’t leave me feeling hungry or deprived. It felt good to set aside a week to do something for me, especially after a busy summer full of traveling and not having a normal routine to stick to. I’m feeling so energized, motivated, and excited to go into the Fall season in strength.
If you’re someone who is seeking a convenient way to get healthier and/or lose weight, I would definitely consider the SlimFast® One Week Plan and smoothies. I found it to be a plan that is balanced and a realistic approach that can easily be continued into a maintainable lifestyle.
