These days, with all of the new developments in the health and wellness world, it can sometimes be difficult to stay up-to-date with the latest and greatest products. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of all things related to Women’s Health, so when I got the opportunity to try a handful of great products that I have never used before, you know I jumped right on that.
First up: Healthy Choice Power Bowl. I’ll be honest – I haven’t had a frozen meal in quite a while. Years and years ago they were a go-to of mine until I found out that the ones I was eating weren’t exactly full of the healthiest ingredients. Well, apparently frozen meals have come a long way, and Healthy Choice knows whats up. In fact, Healthy Choice is the only major brand in its category that can call 100 percent of its products “healthy” as approved by the FDA.
Healthy Choice Power Bowls are made with a combination of nutrient-dense vegetables, proteins and whole grains catering to people living an active lifestyle. The meals are inspired by Korean, Cuban and Latin cuisines and are made in new bowls made of plant-based fiber instead of plastic (um, awesome!). They’re also quick & easy, and look and taste like the fresh meals I make for myself.
I enjoyed the Adobo Chicken Bowl, made with pulled all natural chicken breast and vegetables served on top of brown & red rice, red quinoa and black barley with a guajillo chili sauce topped with roasted pepitas (note – it was before starting my Whole30). I’ve got to say – I was seriously surprised at how much I loved it! Not only was it delicious and full of bold flavors, but I loved that it was made with recognizable ingredients and all natural chicken raised without antibiotics.
Every Power Bowl is made with intentional balance of nutrient-packed veggies, natural proteins and whole grains to fuel your lifestyle, AND there is over 16g of protein and 6-8g of fiber in every bowl!
Next up: 23andMe. Now this is some cool stuff, right here. With 23andMe you can see how your DNA breaks out across our 31 populations worldwide with their ncestry Kit.
I was so impressed by how DETAILED 23andMe is. See a percentage breakdown by region, including eastern Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and more. They look at 31 populations worldwide (and we will continue to refine results as their database grows).
Learn about your ancestry timeline traced through the generations, see where your ancestors lived 500+ years ago (!!!). Discover when different ancestries were introduced into your DNA. Learn how many generations ago you had an ancestor that was descended from a single population or ethnicity.
How it works? You provide your saliva sample from home and mail it back to their lab in the same kit it came in – prepaid postage included.
Toothpaste is clearly a must-have when it comes to women’s health…and making sure that gorgeous smile of yours shines. I had actually never used Arm & Hammer toothpaste, so I was curious to see how I liked it.
While I’ve always been very good at keeping up with my dental hygiene, my dentist has told me that sometimes my gums can get inflamed. ARM & HAMMER Peroxicare toothpaste helps maintain healthy gums by cleaning deep between teeth and along the gum line with the gentle power of Baking Soda. It’s the only toothpaste you can feel working!
And last but not least…oh boy, this one is pretty awesome. The Mio SLICE Heart Rate + Activity Tracker (featuring PAI) is taking fitness trackers to a new level. There are some of the great features it has:
- Personal Activity IntelligenceTM(PAI) —your personal score for optimal health
- Continuous All Day Heart Rate Monitoring, 24/7
- Tracks steps, distance, calories burned
- Resting heart rate, sleep tracking and analysis
- Smartphone notifications
- Water resistant up to 30 meters/100 feet
A bit more on PAI: PAI is a scientifically-validated metric based on heart rate that tells you how much activity you need to live a longer, healthier life.* The ideal goal is to maintain a PAI score of 100 or more over a rolling 7 days, and you can do this with all types of activity, even those that don’t involve steps like biking, rowing and fitness classes. PAI is calculated based on age, gender, resting heart rate and maximum heart rate.
